**App version** : 3.8.0f (F-droid)

**Android version** : 14 / OneUI 6.1

**Device model** : Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G

**Expected behaviour** : I should be abble to add/enable AntennaPod in AndroidAuto

**Current behaviour** : AntennaPod is missing ☹

I only configured android auto like 1 week ago and previously wasn’t using it at all. I tried to use it mostly for navigation but figured out it would be nice. But I wasn’t able to find it on the list.

Searching the forum didn’t yield anything. I was thinking that maybe f-droid version was not compatible so tried searching for that - still nothing.

And only once I decided to write a topic about it voila - a topic showed up:

> [@Android Auto - also in F-Droid](https://forum.antennapod.org/t/android-auto-also-in-f-droid/1085):

> Hello, On [our new Mastodon account](https://fosstodon.org/@AntennaPod) we received this question: Can the F-Droid version also Android Auto or you must download the Google Play Store version? I would like to use Android Auto and therefore currently do not know if generally a version from the F-Droid can also Android Auto. Would look forward to an answer. Thank you. I wouldn’t know, but I suspect that to use Android Auto it’s necessary to have the Google Play Store version. Correct? (Then I can reply to this person on Mastodo…

After a bit of searching what to do I found a website with simple guide:

> **[A Guide to Developer Mode on Android Auto - DeviceMAG](https://www.devicemag.com/android-auto-application-mode-developer/)**
>
> Android Auto is a feature that allows users to connect their Android devices to their car's infotainment system, providing a more seamless and convenient

## How Do You Enable Unknown Sources on Android Auto?

To enable unknown sources on Android Auto, you will need to follow these steps:

> 1. Open the Android Auto app on your phone by clicking on the hamburger icon located at the top left corner of the screen.
> 2. In the side menu that appears, scroll down to find the “Settings” option and tap on it.
> 3. Once you are in the Settings menu, scroll all the way down to the bottom until you see the “Version” option.
> 4. Tap on the “Version” option about 10 times consecutively. This will unlock the Developer Mode in Android Auto.
> 5. After unlocking Developer Mode, click on the kebab icon (three vertical dots) located at the top right corner of the screen.
> 6. In the menu that appears, select the “Developer settings” option.
> 7. Scroll down within the Developer settings menu until you find the “Unknown sources” option.
> 8. Enable the “Unknown sources” option by tapping on the toggle switch next to it.
> 9. Exit the Android Auto app completely by closing it from the recent apps or by restarting your phone.
> 10. Re-open the Android Auto app, and now you should have the “Unknown sources” option enabled, allowing you to install apps from sources other than the Google Play Store.

Maybe it would be good to pin the first forum post and add some sort of guide to it how to enable it and be able to use it in android auto? 🙂 I’d assume that quite a lot of people get AntennaPod from f-droid so it would apply to them 🙂

This is already explained on our documentation pages: [Playback in cars (Android Auto) – AntennaPod](https://antennapod.org/documentation/playback/android-auto) I think we can’t pin individual support threads because we would have to pin so many of them. Maybe we have to make the support pages more prominent.
