# Casting is Broken

Casting has been broken for weeks. I select a cast and the app just hangs. Sometimes it eventually connects but usually it crashes. Spotify and all other apps cast correctly to my smart speakers - only This android app is broken.

I have the same problem, sometimes it works, but often is doesn’t. Other apps on the same phone can cast to the same device without any problems (also using Google Cast).

I’m having a tough time casting as well. All my speakers can be cast to but sometimes I’ll cast and it seems like it didn’t work. In AP I’ll see the pause button as if the podcast is playing, but I can’t tap it to pause/play. I have to go into the speaker in the Google Home app to get it to actually start playing. So it’s like it’s being cast OK, but paused on start and AP doesn’t know that it’s not playing. I can also use the media controls in Chrome on my PC to accomplish the same task of getting the pod to play.
But when it’s playing, AP loses connection to the pod so it’s not keeping track of the playtime. What’s weird is AP still knows it’s being cast and if I hit the cast button in AP to stop casting, it’ll stop casting but then the timer resets to what time in the pod I started casting, not what time I stopped casting. So I usually have to stop casting in the Google Home app to see where in the pod I am, then forward to that time in AP once I stop the cast so I don’t have to restart from an unknown point.

I am running Android 17 but on a pixel 8A. Same issue though.

Should be solved (or at least much better) in 3.12.2 which is currently starting to roll out to a random share of users

Im getting an error message of This media file cannot be played.
Everything was fine until I paused an episode amd went to start it again about 30 minutes later. Now none of my episodes will play.
I have a Samsung S24 Ultra.
