# Intermittent audio

I have been experiencing intermittent audio for quite a long time on android 8.1.
The podcast plays for a while then the audio just cuts out. it appears the podcast is still playing as the time counter continues to move.
If i hit rewind once, the audio cuts at the at the same place.
if i hit rewind a few times and let it play back it often continues to play properly.
in settings \> playback i am using exoplayer, but i have also tried the other 2 players. and it has the same issues.
is there a setting that is causing this?
