# Soft hyphens?

I see there are options on Weblate to add non-breaking spaces and such, but is it alright to add ``, i.e. soft hyphens to the translated strings? (If unfamiliar, they basically make it so long words like “oppdagelsesskjermen” will break in a nice manner if too wide (such “oppdagelses-skjermen”).) If not, it’s possible to work around it!

-record scratch- Oops, not really! Some words get quite long in a compounding language, even in their shortest form (“leverandører av operativsystemer”, though I’d prefer “operativsystemleverandører”).

Unfortunately not. Android does not render html in text boxes, so the code would show up like this to users

Ack! Bummer. I suppose I’ll do my best, but some terms can’t be shortened in a nice manner. (Side note: Hoping to do a second, more thourough pass on Norwegian Bokmål strings in the app. Noticing some that I didn’t go through last time through usage.)

I actually don’t think we should do that manually. Android already can do hyphenation, no need to add that to the translations.
By default, Android doesn’t do it. But it can be enabled for specific text boxes.
