Add skip and rewind buttons to the now playing banner that displays at the bottom of the app across all drawers. This would allow users to skip and rewind without having to go into the full now playing screen.
Please help us understand the workflow problem you’re trying to solve. It sounds like you’re asking for more little buttons on the bar at the bottom of the screen (potentially overwriting some of the episode information) instead of just clicking on that bar and getting access to more and larger buttons including the ones you requested.
Correct, that’s the functionality I’m asking for. It could be optional or customizable for those that don’t want to obscure more information on the bar. I’m mostly in the queue screen and play my podcasts from there. Having the skip and rewind buttons on the banner would allow me to skip through ads in podcasts without having to switch back and forth between the main now playing screen and my queue screen.
Have you tried just clicking on the bar at the bottom to open the episode display? That already provides the buttons you want, and if you want to return to the list you can either swipe from the side or tap the down-arrow at the top left corner.
I understand what you’re asking for. This may be a feature in some media player apps where more buttons are shown in the fixed bottom bar overlay, like the persistent notification ones. While at first it may sound problem-solving, the use case presented doesn’t justify implementing it. Honestly, I don’t think any major media player app have that. I’d like to propose you to bring some real-world examples of this feature.
I may be wrong, but I believe most podcast listeners just play it on background or leave the phone away/iddle, so notification will almost always be the go-to choice for skipping through the episode.
Embedded ads are (should be) very unfrequent. It’s just a matter of once in while opening the episode screen or using the notification buttons to skip them. I’m with @Listener here.
My go to choice for REW/FF are the buttons on the listening device I am using. The notification controls are only used on the relatively rare occasion the listening device does not have such buttons.
