Android Auto improvement

It would be great if Antennapod automatically showed the currently playing program when it is connected to Android Auto. Right now it requires multiple taps - when starting a car ride and firing up the phones connection to Android auto - to relaunch the app, play the currently queued program, and then return to the car's main screen. Other audio apps, such as Emby and Symfonium, automatically display their 'currently playing' screen when connecting to Android Auto.

Came here to say the same, I don’t know that I’d even consider it a feature, I don’t understand why it wouldn’t just do this. What is the benefit of having to press three or four buttons to get started every time you get in your car? I just started using it today, and was very excited to think I can finally lose the pesky subscriptions I pay for the exact same functionality. This seems to be the glaring missing piece though, I can get around it I guess, but how weird.

Completely agree. I recently switched to Antennapod and am gobsmacked by the poor Android Auto implementation. I’m going to stick with it for the time being because I love everything else about the app. But I’d love to see this improved and would even consider donating to help make it happen.

Not sure I understand: are you saying that the relevant screen should show up on the phone or on the car’s display?

There probably is no particular benefit of the current approach, based on the comments of ou three. It probably just doesn’t do this because it was never explicitly thought of and implemented.

Please remember that AntennaPod is made by volunteers. And the core team members are cyclists more than car drivers, so we rely on users to report such requests and to a large extent on others to implement it too (the ‘scratch your own back’ concept in open source development).

Yes, my request relates to the Android Auto interface on the car screen.
