Expected behaviour: Android screen recorder lets me record a clip of audio from Antennapod
Current behaviour: Screen recordings of Antennapod are silent, despite Screen Recorder being configured to record System Sound
First occurred: about 4-6 weeks ago, or longer. Maybe a month or 2.
Steps to reproduce:
Play any podcast audio in Antennapod
Start Android screen recording with record system audio turned on
Stop and save the screen recording
View the recording.
Audio from Antennapod is silent, but audio is captured from other apps, e.g. Firefox for Android, even in the same continuous recording.
Environment: I tested Android screen recording on another app, which it can record the sound of, but it can’t record any sound from Antennapod (as if the app implemented a DRM feature)
I wanted to check if anybody else has this issue. Is this a bug or an intended feature?
It was very nice when I could Screen Record Antennapod to share a clip of a podcast with friends. Now it’s impossible because Antennapod’s audio doesn’t come through in my screen recordings. Is this a new DRM feature ? (Or is it just my phone’s problem?)
I have been using AP since around 2021. Back then, I was told that AP was just a user app, and would never place ads or force me to listen to ads (by removing the FF option only during an ad) because it wasn’t made for the purpose of monetization. But, I still have this FF issue during certain podcasts…
So, why would we even suspect the DRM was a consideration in preventing us from screencapping? Why is that even a consideration from a non- corporate, non-monetized, opensource coded product? Has the situation changed?
Good to know. Antennapod is the only app on my device that can’t be recorded. That is very odd but I guess Motorola did something weird but only with antennapod?
I have the same problem here. Native recording of AntennaPod audio by AirMusic used to work until a few weeks ago. Now the audio is not captured anymore.
AirMusic can still capture audio from other applications such as Telegram and RadioDroid, but not from AntennaPod anymore.
AirMusic says it needs the permission to record audio from the recorded application.
According to Gemini, AntennaPod should
explicitly allow audio playback capture in its AndroidManifest.xml (allowAudioPlaybackCapture=“true” in ) ;
.setAllowedCapturePolicy(AudioAttributes.ALLOW_CAPTURE_BY_ALL) on the media player.
(I am not an Android application developer myself so I am not sure whether this is relevant).
This was fixed. It works now ! I don’t know what part of my phone software environment was updated but Antenna Pod works with AirMusic now. I guess it is the latest automatic Android update from OnePlus that fixed it for me.
