AntennaPod started acting strange over the past week or so. Essentially its like everything is very slow.
First, it would take an extremely long time to refresh all my podcasts. I have a ton, but this was much much slower than its ever been before. It seemed it would never stop trying to refresh, so I ended up restarting the phone.
Then it would also take a very long time to start streaming or downloading an episode. Also, the thumbnails for each episode often don’t load for a very long time.
Once an episode starts playing, it works fine, though.
I’ve restarted the phone several times. I went in and deleted a bunch of podcasts (thinking maybe I have too many for the app to handle). I deleted all downloaded episodes, cleared the queue, and deleted a massive playback history. The problem is marginally improved.
My other devices using wifi are not having any problems.
App version: 3.5.0f (I don’t remember where I downloaded it from)

I’ve been having the same problem, but I recently got rid of my Wi-Fi and have been using massive amounts of data so I just figured my provider was throttling me.
However, I’m seeing that we have the same phone, and so perhaps it has something to do with that. I wonder if people who don’t have Pixel 6a’s are experiencing this, too.

Hello fellow Pixel users. Mine is a Pixel 10 Pro with plenty of free storage and I’m not seeing the issue you describe. Once in a while I stream something via Wi-Fi, but otherwise I download everything over Wi-Fi. I don’t stream or download over mobile data.

I’m coming back to report what has happened since I posted originally.
I thought this was an AntennaPod issue. But then a couple of days ago I tried to use my Libby app and it was also acting very weird and slow. To the point it was freezing up, making the screen blank, etc. This made me realize the problem was beyond just AntennaPod.
I transferred my account from Libby to another phone and deleted the Libby app entirely.
Then restarted my phone a few times.
A day or so later, I went back to AntennaPod and it is working normally again!
Because the Libby app was also super slow, I figured this was not an AntennaPod issue, but rather a GrapheneOS issue. I posted on their forum about it, too, but before I could implement all the advice they gave me, my phone was working properly again.
So, in summary, I believe this problem is plausibly connected to Graphene and possibly Libby in some way. Its frustrating not to know why it became slow suddenly out of the blue and now its back to normal, but I am thrilled to be able to use AntennaPod normally again.
The silver lining is this prompted me to clear out a bunch of subscriptions (probably close to 100) that I was just holding onto out of inertia.
