App is no longer visible from home or app listing, but is installed

App version: 3.4.1 from Google Play

Android version: 14

Device model: Samsung Galaxy S23

Expected behaviour: I can have the app icon on my home screen, and I can find the app in the list of all applications when I swipe up on any non-app view.

Current behaviour: The app icon disappeared from my home screen. When I swipe up to find the app, I cannot find it at all. If I select a folder on a home screen and click the ‘+’ to add a application to the folder, I still am unable to find AntennaPod. But the application is still installed on my phone. If I search for it, it is found under Settings, and I do see it as an installed application there, and when I select it I can open it and use it just fine from there. It is also visible through Android Auto.

First occurred: Less than a week ago. I believe it updated to 3.4.0 at that time, maybe (although it looks like 3.4.0 was released a few months ago). Since it occurred, I updated to 3.4.1 but that did not resolve the issue.

Steps to reproduce:
Not something that is really a reproducible issue. On my phone, I swipe up on any home screen to get the list of apps. Scrolling left and right, I am unable to find the AntennaPod app icon at all. In order to open the application, I need to follow these steps:

  1. Swipe up to get to application list.
  2. Enter ‘antennapod’ into the search field.
  3. Select the ‘AntennaPod’ entry found listed under Settings. This takes one to the ‘App info’ page for the application.
  4. To open the app, click the ‘Open’ button at the bottom left of the screen.
The application is completely usable at this point. It can also be accessed via the app history feature (not the home or back button, uncertain of specific name).

Environment: I do not believe this applies. I don’t think I made any specific changes to my phone to cause the issue, other than updating the app, maybe.

Stacktrace/Logcat: Doubt this applies; don’t know where to look if there is something relevant.

Did you try restarting your phone?

Is it possible your launcher has an option to hide app and somehow AntennaPod has been hidden?

I did restart my phone. No change.

I’m using the default Samsung One UI. I’m not aware of how it would hide apps, but I’ll investigate. (So far, not seeing anything obvious.) I don’t think I installed an OS update around the time that I noted that the app was no longer visible.

That was the issue. I don’t know how, but I did apparently hide the app. I have undone that setting and can now see the app in the app list, and I was able to restore it to my home screen.

Thank you for the help and sorry for the noise regarding this false bug.
