How do i stop antennapod from starting automatically when android auto connects my phone to my car?

No, unfortunately. So frustrating.
This must be a setting in your car, not in AntennaPod. Some cars automatically send a “play” button press after connecting, and we can’t just ignore those on AntennaPod’s end without breaking, well, the “play” button (on headphones, Android notification, etc). AntennaPod cannot auto-start itself without a “play” button press, the Android system doesn’t let it. So this is not coming from AntennaPod itself.
I think ByteHamster is correct. Toyota is asking for a lawsuit. My wife nearly lost control driving into our garage when my BT took over and started blaring a podcast (the volume had been turned up because she was listening to a live music recording that was hard to hear).
I did notice that when I went into Settings/Applications/Force Stop - that the app doesn’t autoplay. Only when it is running in the background. This is interesting to me.
I run GrapheneOS and AtennaPod seems to be pretty aggressively pulled from active. For instance, it doesn’t take long for the pull down menu on the lock screen to not be able to start playing something when it’s been idle. I have to open the app and click play again. I suspect this is an OS level thing - but it might be helpful if there is an OS level option to actually stop applications when you dismiss them. It seems there isn’t much of a standard around it.
