Automated export to android file access framework (owncloud, gdrive etc)

App version: 3.6.1 (8ec7d8e2) (Google Play)

Android version: 14

Device model: Fairphone 5

Expected behaviour: I am trying to configure the autmated regular export. My aim is to upload the database regularly to my OwnCloud instance.

Current behaviour: Currently this seems no to be possible, because I can only select local folders on the phone.

First occurred: N/A

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Go to Import/Export
  3. Press Automatic database export
  4. file picker opens (see screenshot)

In other apps (like Keepass2Android) I can switch in the file picker to OwnCloud, but not in AntennaPod. I have the same issue with Signal.

Environment: N/A

Maybe I don’t understand how to use the file picker or the other locations are not available because they support certain features not? I don’t know … what am I doing wrong?

That’s what happens. AntennaPod requests full read/write access to a folder, so it can create multiple backup files. Unfortunately, most cloud storage apps only seem to support read access to a folder or write access to a single file through Android’s storage access framework. The only one I know that supports full write access to a folder is Nextcloud.
