Automatic Download Does Not Work v2

There was a thread about this very topic a couple of years ago, which has been closed. I just wanted to mention that my ‘autodownload’ had stopped working and on investigation I found that all of my podcast episodes were listed in the Queue folder
I’ve checked all my settings and changed one ‘auto download from queue’
hopefully this will fix the issue, but I would like to know why it may have changed (has their been a new release / change in code recently)?

I absolutely love the AntennaPod app, since I originally found it, I set it up to automatically refresh all of my subscribed podcasts, download each new publication and delete them once I have listened to them

This has worked absolutely perfectly, my interaction is merely opening the app and pressing play on the podcast I was listening to last time I used the app. The app perfectly plays the rest of the episode, moves on to the next one in the downloads folder and starts playing that and magically the finished played ones disappear

So I was somewhat perplexed when at the end of a podcast, there weren’t any others to listen to. That is what prompted my search for help and this post

Thanks all at AntennaPod, perfect app (apart from hiccough that’s prompted me to post this!)

. Android 11
. unihertz Jelly2

App version: x.y.z (state whether from Google Play/F-Droid/Custom built APK)

Android version: 5.x (Please mention if you are using a custom rom!)

Device model:

Expected behaviour:

Current behaviour:

First occurred: (e.g. about x days/weeks ago)

Steps to reproduce:

  1. This
  2. Then that
  3. Then this
  4. Etc.

Environment: (Settings you have changed (e.g. Auto Download). “Unusual” devices you use (e.g. Bluetooth headphones). Did you select another media player?)

It’s going to be hard to guess how this happened. Potential errant tap unset it few weeks ago? Going to be a tough call. But good that you got functionality moving again.

Thank you @andbenn

Whilst ‘user error’ certainly can’t be ruled out, I think it unlikely as all I do when I open the app is press the ‘play’ button at the bottom right of the screen, since the app looks after all of my podcast admin for me and has done since I initially set it up
As you state, it doesnt matter as I have now resolved the ‘stuck in queue folder’ issue that I was experiencing

I reactivated this thread title as I was interested to know if any other AntennaPod users had experienced the same issue and whether there had been a software upgrade that might have caused my ‘full automation’ to have failed

Bottom line, this is in my opinion an absolutely fantastic PodCast app and I am grateful to Google for closing their Podcast app and forcing users to use uTube, which was so hopeless it motivated me to search out an alternative and thus I discovered AntennaPod. AntennaPod is superior in every way; a genuine 5* app, better than BBCSounds and Apples Podcast

AntennaPod 3.7.0 has a problem with auto-download trying to download many more episodes than it should. This might explain your episodes in the queue. This will be fixed in AntennaPod 3.8.0
