Problem you may be having, or feature you want: Currently, once the user’s automatic download episode limit is reached, additional episodes will only download if selected manually.
Suggested solution: Allow user to choose select “priority” series for which new episodes will continue to automatically download even if the total download episode limit has been reached.
This is similar to past feature requests to prioritize downloads. I subscribe to multiple podcasts, all of which I enjoy listening to offline occasionally, so I set most of them to include in auto-downloads. However, I have a few favorite series, which I would like to auto-download as soon as new episodes are released, regardless if my downloaded episode limit has already been reached, i.e., “priority” series that could override the download limit.
