Background video playback

App version: 3.7.0-beta2 (Google Play)

Problem you may be having, or feature you want: I just realised a couple days ago AntennaPod plays videos. That’s awesome! I’m now using it as an Odysee player, since I can pre-download the videos in wifi, and Odysee doesn’t offer a Watch later feature. I just wish it continue to play the video’s audio when the app is out of focus (and PIP is disabled), or when the screen is locked (like YouTube and many browsers do). I gave it permission to the lock screen to no avail.

Suggested solution: AP should continue playing the video’s audio when the screen is locked, or when the focus is switched to another app (and PIP is disabled). It’d also be great to have an audio-only button (typically a headphone icon) in the PIP floating player (and perhaps in the main player too), like other video players (e.g. YouTube) do.

Isn’t what it already do? I thought it was?

Not on my phone. Does it on yours?
