A few people who have had some sort of trouble using AntennaPod have offered to provide details to try and figure out what contributes to the issue they are seeing. (I’m especially thinking of those who have seen a podcast episode skip ahead or back, seemingly on its own.) It seems logical to also share a configuration that works as expected as a baseline. Here goes:
My Baseline:
- Google Pixel 8 Pro with lots of free memory, not rooted or otherwise altered
- Android 14, unaltered
- No add-in memory (most newer phones don’t have a memory slot)
- AntennaPod 3.4.1, downloaded from Google Play Store and updated automatically
- Only receive refreshes and downloads via Wi-Fi, but I do play previously downloaded episodes when away from Wi-Fi
- Refresh Interval configured for every 2 hours
- New episodes action is Add to Inbox
- Playback speed: usually 1.00, but use 1.25 or 1.50 presets for a few podcasts
- Skip silence: usually not enabled
- Skip back: 10 seconds
- Skip forward: 30 seconds
- Use episode cover: disabled
- Show remaining time: enabled (so it shows remaining episode time rather than total episode time)
- No sorting or filters (I manually move episodes around in the queue)
Workflow
- If I want to check for the latest episodes I pull the screen down to initiate a refresh
- In InBox I swipe-away episodes I don’t expect to listen to, download those I do expect to listen to, and if unsure I leave them in the InBox
- I occasionally stream an episode if I want to listen to it right away, but I usually download episodes
- Listen to episodes from the Queue
I recognize that everyone has a unique hardware and software configuration and their own way of doing things, which is all great. I’m simply offering-up a configuration that Just Works (with the 56 podcasts I have subscribed to).
Please let me know if this is useful and whether any additional details would be helpful.
