Expected behaviour:
Normal podcast downloads, streaming, and refreshes.
Current behaviour:
Podcast downloads, streaming, and refreshes are blocked by Antennapod when I’m using a VPN. There’s no problem listening to any podcasts over VPN from the podcast’s own website using a browser.
First occurred:
Steps to reproduce:
Try to download, stream, or refresh any podcast over a VPN.
Very wild guess: You changed AntennaPod’s network permissions on the Android settings app to not allow network access on mobile data and your VPN pretends to be mobile data
ByteHamster almost got it right, but not quite. On Android 14, Android Settings > Connections > Data usage > Allowed networks for apps > AntennaPod will get you to the setting that needs to be changed to "Mobile data or Wi-Fi " to get AntennaPod to work normally, like it did a month or two ago. I haven’t messed with that since I set up my current phone about six months ago. On Android 14, you can’t get there through the Android Settings > Apps > AntennaPod page like some have suggested elsewhere. In AntennaPod Settings > Downloads > Mobile updates everything is unchecked and everything now works as expected if I’m on VPN/mobile data or VPN/wi-fi, so AntennaPod can tell the difference. Something else like OpenVPN or Android got an update and now thinks that my VPN is a mobile network, I sure didn’t change anything.
