Can't find keep-active-in-background setting

App version: 3.8.0 (from Google Play)

Android version: 16 (nothing custom)

Device model: Google Pixel 6

Expected behaviour: want to (re)enable running in background

Current behaviour: can’t find the setting

First occurred: today

Yesterday I was looking into why my battery had run down so quickly. The Android battery usage page pointed its finger directly at AntennaPod. Nothing else seemed close. To try and improve battery life, I disabled the run-in-background setting. I thought the app was wasting a bunch of energy checking for new podcast episodes. (I wasn’t actively using it at the time.)

Today, I was listening to a podcast. AntennaPod paused every time I switched to another app. Relating that to my previous setting change I tried to change it back to its original value. But… I can’t find the damn setting! I’ve searched all over my phone’s settings as well as the app settings. I tried searching for “background,” but that yielded morning useful. Where will I find the toggle button for this setting?

I believe you’re looking for the Pause for interruptions setting (in the Playback menu)

If this doesn’t work you can try re-enabling background operation by:

  1. Open Settings > Apps > See all apps > AntennaPod > Battery
  2. Try to set it to “Unrestricted” or “Allow background activity”

Maybe you tweaked with background data aswell which can lead to some issues, so check network settings under:
Settings > Apps > See all apps > AntennaPod > Data usage

and re-enable, if that’s the case, all three options that should show up: Mobile data, Wi-Fi and Background data. If this still doesn’t fix it, make sure you don’t have Battery Saver Mode enabled.
