An own server solution for device syncing is quite unfortunate and for sure not for everyone.
Suggested solution:
simpel Login or any other sync features hosted by antennapod.

I can only agree! With gpodder I’ve been getting a 500 error message for months and I don’t have Nextcloud. To be honest, I’m not willing to pay €8 a month for Nextcloud so I can sync my podcasts. I really wish there was a better synchronization option!

How about using a file(s) on MS OneDrive or Google drive?
(Eg see the GroverPro podcast app in Windows store)
I faced the same problem so I built https://www.podferry.com/ but it does require a small donation for quota-free sync to help keeping those 5xx errors away.
