Episodes randomly deleted after full podcast was downloaded just 3 days ago

App version: 3.9.0 (from Google Play)

Android version: 16

Device model: Pixel 10 Pro

Expected behaviour: do not randomly delete downloaded episodes

Current behaviour: randomly delete downloaded episodes

First occurred: today

Steps to reproduce:

I have spent hours downloading all 600 episodes from a podcast, just 3 days ago.

In global settings, I have “Automatic deletion” disabled

In podcast settings, I have “Delete after playing” set to never.

yet, when I wanted to listen to episodes offline, it said file not found

To add insult to injury, the episodes appear as downloaded (with the play icon displayed). Only when I click to play, does it say “File not found” and the play icon changes to download icon

from the 600 episodes, randomly perhaps half of them do play (are downloaded). So to me, this looks like total chaos.

Welcome fellow Pixel fan. I don’t have an answer, but I do recognize you’ve got a brand new phone so storage is probably not an issue. The new phone also suggests you are still configuring apps and the phone itself, so I’ll be interested to see what the issue turns out to be.

Could it be a problem with app permission about access to files?

no. when I look in Settings → Apps → AntennaPod → Storage and cache, it shows:

User data 16 GB

the podcast itself when downloaded complete is over 26GB.

so the episodes are simply not there

I’ve had the “File not found” issue for ages. One of these days I’m going to learn the source code to fix the play button lying to me and set up a download rotation for my old queue items so I always have like 20 episodes downloaded at a time and can just press play without worrying about scrolling through a list of 500 episodes that look downloaded but aren’t and sort out the fake ones! That or just make the auto-play skip non-downloaded items!
