Feeds not refreshing while on mobile network

So i would have expected my podcast (RSS feeds) to get refreshed while on mobile network but this does not seem to be the case.

Is this a bug?

What happens when you try to refresh while on mobile? (The easiest way to start a refresh is to pull down from within one of the menus, such as the main menu.)

It works, but it’s suppose to update automatically right?

It does update automatically, but the default refresh is pretty long (8 hours?). The refresh frequency is adjustable from Every Hour to Every 3 Days. It sounds like all you need to do is to select a more frequent refresh.

I can’t do that, it’s already maxed out.
Hence my question

In that case it sounds like everything is working as designed, but you wish that a more frequent automatic refresh option (every 15 minutes?) was available. Did I get that right?

Nah, perhaps i was imprecise in my earlier description of the issue.
The issue is that the feeds do not seem to auto refresh (like at all) when connect through a mobile network.
When on wifi they auto refresh as expected though.

As previously mentioned i can manually refresh feeds by pulling down but that’s not my issue.

Thanks for the clarification.
You said you don’t receive any kind of prompt about Mobile updates when you manually initiate a refresh over mobile network? Unlike your configuration I have disabled all mobile updates except for synchronization, and if I manually initiate a refresh while not on Wi-fi I get a prompt asking whether I really want to do that over mobile.

Nope, there is no prompt.
When refreshing manually there is just a small spinning wheel that goes away in about a sec. Or so.

Come to Think about it, perhaps i need to enable auto download ( see image in my first post)

I just don’t like for the hole podcast (audio file) to be auto downloaded, but maybe auto download refers to just the feeds and not the audio files found within those feeds.

No, auto download is for the media files. Automatic refresh is for looking for new episodes

So what’s the difference between
Auto download and episode download?

I would assume auto download concerns the automatic download of episode’s where this feature is enabled in the podcast settings.

Secondly I’d assume if episode download is disabled, the downloading of manually selected episodes would be queued until a wifi connection is established.

Is my understanding accurate?

Almost, yes.

If it is disabled, AntennaPod asks what to do. One option is to download when WiFi is available, as you say. The other option is to download anyway
