I just started to use AntennaPod, therefore I have no other example yet, but I can imagine some:
Say I’m interested in a subject that spells the same in multiple languages (“Iran”, “Israel”, “France”, “nature”, “art”, “Charles de Gaulle”, “Charles Darwin”, …).
I have never used iTunes or PodcastIndex, so I don’t know how they solve this question.
Maybe, they use browser/phone language?
Maybe most users do search for specific titles, therefore find accurate results?
French is used in a few countries like Belgium, Switzerland, Quebec, some African countries. Filtering on “France” would not be perfect but would certainly help.
For a real filter by language, the program would have to detect from the description. A few code libraries do it. A bit heavy maybe for a quite rare demand…
Thank you very much for the listennotes link. I did not know it.
Rather than searching in AntennaPod (or any other podcast app) I would be inclined to Google something like “science podcasts in French,” which would no-doubt produce many discussions about podcasts like you are seeking. Wouldn’t that be a more effective way to identify the kind of podcasts you’re looking for?
