Hi there - can someone quickly check my config is valid? Not sure if it’s mandatory to add episodes to inbox or queue to trigger this?
My intention is to download all new episodes, and enqueue my playlist manually.
Global settings:
Refresh podcasts - 12hr
New episode action - nothing
Automatic download - enabled
Limit - unlimited
Subscription:
Keep updated - enabled
New episode action - global default
Episode filter - no filters set.
Auto-download doesn’t trigger for my subscription - the episode list refreshes, but the download button remains. Connectivity and space isn’t an issue, and behaviour remains the same over a few days of auto refresh.
Right, that was my experience as well. Looks like you get to choose whether to manually download pods in your queue or manually enqueue pods in your inbox. This seems like a good opportunity for a future feature, where global default is new pods are enqueued and downloaded.
This is what happens when you select to add episodes to the inbox. Downloads get added to the queue, including automatic downloads. But they first need to be in the inbox to be considered for auto-download
Auto-Downloads stopped working 3 days ago.
Episodes are refreshed but not downloaded.
I have not changed any of my settings.
New episodes were (and still are) set to Inbox.
@ari_tafari Where did you look when trying to figure out what’s wrong? I wonder where we should display the explanation message. The one we already have in the side bar seems to get overlooked a lot (plus we will push bottom navigation)
Thank you @Listener.
I have always had the episode limit set at 25 but when I changed it to “unlimited” new episodes started downloading.
Just how do I set/increase download space? I could have sworn there used to be a setting for doing that. Can you only accomplish this by the episode limit?
The page is called “downloads” and is also available through bottom navigation (unless you selected to hide it)
It can’t be displayed every single time you open the app. The message needs to be somewhere permanent because users click away popups without reading them. It also needs to be non-distractive because there are users who always are at the limit. So what screens did you look at to figure out what’s wrong? The answer “I didn’t look at any screen and directly posted on the forum” is a valid answer as well, if that’s what you did.
I did look at the Downloads screen but didn’t notice anything saying storage was full. Maybe I missed it due to all the error messages.
“CBS World News Roundup” podcast constantly gives the error message “The podcast host’s server sent a broken podcast feed … blah, blah, blah”
The podcast downloads successfully but the error message appears multiple times.
Maybe inbox or queue would be good candidates to display a message at top notifying about auto download has been reached ? I would suggest to allow to turn it off.
Additionally if someone manually download an episode for a podcast with auto download on and if limit has been reached their could be a popup to inform user that limit as been reached and what can be done.
