How to delete downloaded episodes?

App version: 3.9.0-beta1 (33514364f) (Google Play)

Android version: 15

Device model: Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G

Expected behaviour: I expect that Automatic deletion deletes the episode after playback is completed. But the phone “says” that AntennaPod uses tons of storage.
In AntennaPod settings, I have selected “Delete after playing”, “Auto delete from local folders”, and “Delete removes from queue”.

Current behaviour: The storage used by AntennaPod is rising.

I’m not sure if all above mentioned features work on my phone. Is there any way to delete downloaded files by hand? I can’t see (in settings) the mentioned downloading folder because my phone isn’t rooted.

Do you have any downloads on the “downloads” screen that you don’t expect to be downloaded? There is also a download statistics screen (chart button on subscriptions screen)

A lot
I didn’t have DOWNLOADS on my navigation, so I never saw that many episodes stay on the phone. I thought that when an episode is moved from the QUEUE, it is deleted. But it is not (always) because many episodes are not finished as AntennaPod expected. I often listen to the episode (but not to the end) and then remove it from QUEUE manually. Now I saw that the episode is still in DOWNLOADS and the file stays on the phone.
It would be nice if the application would delete downloads after some period of time.

Tnx. Now I have freed my storage.

I have seen this quite a lot recently, where users removed the downloads screen and then wondered about the downloads. Maybe we should remove the feature to hide the downloads screen.

That way lies more complaints from users not wanting to see the download screens option!

Yes, I removed the DOWNLOADS screen because I don’t need it, and I like that the app has a simple UI.

Yeah, the non-deleting “auto-delete” is a bit counter-intuitive and annoying.

My workflow around this is to go to the Episodes list / screen / panel. Select the Three buttons in the upper right and the Filter. Then you select the Played and the Downloaded options and Confirm. You can then do a multi-select of episodes and a delete.

FWIW, I only use 3 panels: Subscriptions (where am I looking), Episodes (what is available), Queue (what I have downloaded and want to listen to… I don’t stream) . Also, FWIW, I was a long time Podkicker user, so learned my workflow there. I have also set the Episodes panel as default and use the Refresh function from the long-press on the app.

You will have to go back in to the filter select list to reset the selected filter options, if you want to.

My issue with auto-deletion is that I dont want yo auto-delete episodes I have “finished”, but which ended after I fell asleep! Is there a workaround for this? I’m still periodically deleting masses of listened yo episodes manually.

I’d recommend leaving auto-deletion enabled. It’s easy to check the Playback History and download or stream any episodes that ended after you fell asleep.
