When leaving the office building, I often open the app to wake it up so that playback begins once my phone connects to the car radio. This also starts the download of some episodes, as I have it set to download the next ten. However, during this download, once I reach my garage, the wifi connection is lost.
When this happens, the episode plays as much as has been downloaded, and then it stops. If I try to force play it, I get an error message (I can provide a screenshot of the error message if that would be helpful. I’ll try to reproduce the issue and capture it).
The solution is to delete the downloaded episode, go to the podcast, and restart playing it from the cloud. Then it works fine and also starts from where it left off, but it’s a bit annoying, especially as it requires me to interact with the app while driving.
I do the same thing before leaving the building and have run into the same issue, though I’ve assumed it’s an Android issue rather than an AntennaPod issue because I’ve seen it happen with a video streaming app too. To prevent the change-of-connection-during-download condition I make sure the downloads are complete before the phone has to switch from the Wi-Fi connection to the cell connection.
