My name is Marco Curralejo and I am one of the co-hosts on the Blind Tech Guys.
I sent an Tweet through and was asked to create a interview request on your forum.
We have noticed how accessible your product is to blind and visually-impaired users and we were hoping to have a developer come on and talk to our audience about Antenna Pod and the work that you guys have done to get things to where they are now.
We can be reached at [@ByteHamster removed address to avoid spam] and we hope you will consider our request, as we will be discussing podcast players over the next couple of weeks and we would very much like to feature Antenna Pod on a future episode.
Are you looking for a general chat about AntennaPod or are you specifically interested in accessibility features? I’m probably the person who could talk most about accessibility because I tested and optimized version 2.0 for talkback. To be honest, though, I am not really keen on being interviewed “live” on audio. I could answer some questions in text form but that is probably not a good fit for a podcast.
If your interview is more about how the community works together to create an open-source app, maybe someone else could chime in (@keunes?).
I would be happy to represent the project, and can study (together with @ByteHamster) the things that were done on accessibility. (I won’t be able to give technical details ad-hoc, though.) Also if @ByteHamster is OK with pre-recording, knowing the topics in advance, I’d be happy to help to help out with prepping. (EDIT: I’m not sure I would share the exact questions in advance as it could take away some of the spontaneity, but detailed topic list might be helpful indeed)
Either way, it’s a very interesting and important topic, and I find it cool that you host such podcast and thought of us!
It would indeed be great if you could share a topic list @Marco_Curralejo. Then we can decide if the topics are so technical that I have to do it or if @keunes can do it (who is probably a lot better at representing the project).
How did you go about making the app so accessible;
Have you considered adding chapter markers;
Any important future updates that you would like to pass on to us;
How did the project start and what drew you into creating the product;
What do you want to see happen in the podcasting space in order for your app to continue to grow;
Have you got any programs where blind and visually-impaired people can participate in order to give you feedback about future updates so that the app continues to be as accessible as it currently is.
Hope this helps and please advise how you would like to proceed.
Just wondering if you have had a chance to look at our questions and hoping to hear back from you, as we would like to feature your product on our next show which comes out over the weekend.
