With every episode, I encounter an issue at the end: the app does not automatically skip to the next episode. Instead, it shows a playback duration longer than the actual episode length, and only silence is played.
This behavior rarely or never occurs with other podcasts. I usually listen at 1.4× playback speed.
The problem may be related to how the episodes are published or how the feed is interpreted by the app. I wanted to bring this to your attention in the hope that it might be possible to improve this behavior.
I’ve heard of this kind of thing before, generally related to faster playback speed, streaming rather than downloading, and/or issues with the way that the podcast publishers insert ads into the podcast. To narrow down what you’re experiencing I’d recommend that you try downloading (if you have been streaming) and listening at 1x speed.
I’ve had an occasional problem that is similar, which I think happens when ad insertion fails for ads at the end and it’s essentialy silence.
Are you sure there isn’t dead space on the end of the episode file? Try moving one of the episodes with this issue off your phone and playing it in a multimedia player to see what happens at the end.
I’d rather have silence than ads though. But the creator probably wants ads.
