I would suggest to use a dedicated app that do that. For instance you could use caffeinate (didn’t test it just searched quickly on f-droid)
Thanks I’ll check it out. I saw an option for that kind of feature on a different podcast app I used to use a couple of years ago and thought it might be something cool to implement.
I have used the Stay Alive! app for doing that in the past but not sure if it is still available to install.
(my use case for that was the bug in the BBC Sport app that did not allowed streamed “radio” commentaries to continue when the screen timed out - was fixed then broken again then fixed again … not sure of the current state of play)
Note that recent Android versions don’t need an extra app. Android already has a quick settings tile in the notification bar called “caffeine”
The only Caffeine I can find is a third party app by a third party developer with relatively few downloads. But that was on my old Android 7 tablet. Nothing showing in Quick Settings on my Android 13 phone.
