Maintain / enhance playback controls after sleep timer

App version: x.y.z (state whether from Google Play/F-Droid/Custom built APK)

3.5.0f from F-Droid

Problem you may be having, or feature you want:

I would like the playback controls notification (on the lock screen) to remain indefinitely after the sleep timer finishes. Currently they seem to disappear after a few minutes, and are definitely gone in the middle of the night when I need them most.

I use podcasts to sleep and sometimes I wake up and need to restart playback. The less time spent navigating the phone (swipes, passwords, finding app, finding play), the sooner I get back to sleep and the better sleep I get.

Suggested solution:

Just an option to always have the playback controls notification persist indefinitely after the sleep timer finishes (or give a timeout we can specify).

Even better, I would LOVE an option to use physical buttons to restart, e.g., tap the down volume button after the timer is complete (at least until the phone is unlocked). This way I could restart any time without having to even open my eyes, which would absolutely rule.

Screenshots / Drawings / Technical details:

The physical buttons idea is nice. So you want a button to just restart the last episode you were listening to and restart the sleep timer?

Some issues to work out, the last episode could have been deleted if that is the preference you set. Also, taking over a physical volume button might cause issues with other remapping software people might have. Just wondering aloud whether a shake to restart would be better?

I’m not sure if this is really within the scope of AntennaPod. It would need a constantly running service to listen for shakes or button press events. Instead, I think you might be able to build something like this with automation apps like Tasker.
