Expected behaviour: automatic sync/download of updated episode
Current behaviour: only the 1st episode of the day downloaded
First occurred: since the first time installed
Steps to reproduce:
Hello, I have the following problem. I have a podcast that releases several episodes on the same day as updates with the same name per day(Tagesschau in 100 seconds, approx. 10 episodes/updates). However, only the first episode per day is downloaded. All other updates for that day are not displayed as an option or downloaded. With my previous app (Podcast Addict), this was possible without any problems. Is there a trick in the settings to make this work with AntennaPod as well? I only ever see one episode per day in the episode overview.
All other podcasts with only one episode per day, diff. name work fine.
Yes, this is currently expected behavior. Many podcasts mess up their feed and add unintended duplicate episodes. AntennaPod de-duplicates them based on title, date, type, length, etc. Unfortunately in your case all of those properties seem too similar, so the episodes get detected as duplicates
Basically yes, but if we add this, users will turn it off without knowing what they are doing and will then complain to us about duplicates. Also, adding additional settings is almost always a bad idea: Tech Notes: Why not add an option for that?
Would it be possible to simply define the latest edition of a day, i.e. daily:latest, as the current edition? That way, no option would be necessary and you would always have the latest edition available for download. In my case, that would be the latest news. Older news are not current anyway. In addition, other podcasts that may have another episode released on the same day, for example because an error in the recording has been corrected, would also be downloaded with the error corrected.
