I am looking for an option to play a given single episode “next”, ie just after the current playing one.
This option would be available in the episode contextual menu and would allow to curate the immediate played list.
This is different to the current "where to add to the playlist? " setting which applies to all episodes and is very helpful when emptying the inbox, for instance.

There is the workaround of manually dragging a newly added episode to the top of the Queue.
Yes for sure, but that needs too much actions! 
This is something I found very useful on the podcast app I used before, and would like to see implemented in antenna pod

I agree it would be very useful to have the double option “add to queue” (already present) and “play next”.
I am aware that the behaviour of the “add to queue” menu item can be customised in settings (add to top, add to bottom, add before current episode and add after current episode), but that doesn’t let you have both options quickly accessible, which is something most music players have and which is something I really really miss in most podcasts app.
For instance, this is one thing YouTube Music does right
