Per podcast option to Add to front or Add to back

App version: 3.9.0 (1f242876d) from Google Play

Problem you may be having, or feature you want:

I’m a new user having previously used Pocket Casts. In that app there’s an option within each podcast to auto add to top/front or back/bottom of the queue.

The reason for this is that for news and current affairs podcasts or those with daily episodes, I would like them added to the top of the queue so I listen to them as they are released.

Podcasts that are just different episodes, say a story about a serial killer from 10 years ago I’m happy to leave to add to the end of the queue and I’ll get round to listening to it after my news and current affairs.

Suggested solution:

Within “podcast options” add option to:

  • add to top of queue
  • add to bottom of queue
  • global default

I created an account here just to vote for this.

My use case is that I listen to one particular podcast every day. Others I queue up and might listen to them after the daily. So, every day I have to manually find the “must listen” podcast and manually move it to the top.
(This brings up another issue…. It is counter intuitive to me how if I play from down in the queue instead of moving it to the top first, that after the podcast finishes, AntennaPod plays the next podcast from that point in the queue as if nothing exists above it. I have never before encountered a queue that behaved this way)

When I originally started using AntennaPod I played from the top as you describe, but you don’t have to do that. A couple folks clued me into the fact that I could just as easily play from the bottom. I.E.: Let the newly-added episodes go to the bottom, and when I start listening I might start from, for example, the third from the bottom. Then it would play through those three and then stop (unless I add more episodes, in which case it keeps going).

The more items you keep in the queue, the more sense it makes to play from the bottom, letting the older unheard episodes accumulate at the top.
