Playing Antennapod inconsistently stops when brought to front

Expected behaviour:

App should continue playing

Current behaviour:

Occasionally will stop playing and app vanishes

First occurred:

seen occasionally. Every couple days.

Steps to reproduce:

1. I’ll have a session of listening to some podcast episodes
2. For some other reason, I’ll want to skip some, or go back some. I’ll unlock my phone, probably long press the icon (or not), choose queue.
3. I’ll see the queue and start to move my thumb down to the player, when…
4. Attenapod stops playing and vanishes in front of my eyes

This is not frequent. Happens every couple days or perhaps once a day at most.

Has happened with and without Bluetooth headphones.

• Sony WI-C310 over the neck type
• Pixel Buds A-Series
• Pixel USB C wired

Environment: (Settings you have changed (e.g. Auto Download). “Unusual” devices you use (e.g. Bluetooth headphones).)

No crash report recorded

Dropping this here for now, hoping some others might have seen this. I’ll keep trying and see if I can repo it. It is rather elusive, but unsettling when it happens.

I have a theory it’s the OS that is killing or stopping AntennaPod, as it always seems to happen a few seconds after bringing the phone out of sleep/idle while AntennaPod is playing.

Has anyone else experienced intermittent, non-crashing app termination during active playback on Android?

I am using AntennaPod 3.10.3 on Android 16 (Pixel 9a) and have been encountering an elusive issue where the app occasionally stops playback and disappears entirely from the foreground without displaying a crash dialog or generating a crash report. This typically occurs during an active listening session when I unlock the phone and attempt to interact with the playback UI (often by long-pressing the app icon and opening the queue). I regularly see the exact same thing. Unexpected shutdown when re-opening the app during use. Recently, there have also been frequent instances where playback unexpectedly stalls (without the app shutting down). However, this may not be related. (Android 16)
