Problem you may be having, or feature you want:
I came across an interesting tool to allow for ad removal in podcasts but realised it wasn’t simple to integrate into my workflow being an AntennaPod user.
Rather than asking for this particular tool to be integrated I researched to see whether I could do it myself via a plugin API, but it looks like there isn’t one. It would be great for a plugin API to exist to allow for the integration of useful tools such as this.
Suggested solution:

May I suggest a work around that’s working just fine for me? It’s possible to configure the “fast forward” button (e.g. “30 seconds”), then “just” click fast forward in notifications once or twice does the trick for me. If it jumps to far, i.e. host already talking again, I have configured the rewind button to 5 seconds
That’s what I do too: I just skip forward to go past commercials, and go back if I skipped too far forward (or if it turned-out to be a commercial that interested me). Mine is set for the default 30 seconds ahead and 10 seconds back.
Thanks for the suggestions, but the problem suggested was mainly just an example. I’d like to extend AntennaPod with useful plugins such as this and others e.g. using AI to transcribe podcasts, summarisation, automated tagging and upload, etc.
Are you aware of an existing API for this kind of thing?
It’s great if multiple platforms and multiple plugin developers can leverage the same API as apposed to, for example, an AntennaPod-specific API.
That said, I just looked at the interesting tool you linked to and it doesn’t appear to me to be a plugin. I’m not a developer so I claim no expertise in such things, but if I read that page correctly it seems that the ad block tool actually processes the source podcasts in question and creates a new RSS feed that you would subscribe to.
