Restricting synchronising to a specifig wifi SSID

Hello,

I would like to suggest an option to restrict synchronising to specific networks, either mobile network or a certain wifi SSID, so users can choose to consume their mobile data rate or not.

You can already determine which activities are allowed to happen using mobile data. What would be the the goal of allowing updates only via a specific Wi-Fi connection?

Oh, I must have missed that. Sorry!

Let’s say you’re running a private server at home, and you only need synchronisation between AntennaPod on your phone and your music app on your pc. Then it would be pointless to synch the phone while you’re not at home.

I am sorry I forgot the option you mentioned above. I will see if it does what I am looking for.

Actually, I have a case for this: I have a mini router that sometimes connects via some other Wifi as a repeater, sometimes tethering via mobile if that’s not available

Stuff like that can be communicated via DHCP but it leaves a lot to be desired. My mobile operator claims I downloaded 32 GB one night this summer over that… So until there’s a better standard, I still think this feature request makes sense.

If you find a very old Android version (5.0 I believe), AntennaPod actually has this feature. Unfortunately it’s not longer possible on recent Android versions due to privacy restrictions (apps could use the WiFi name to track your location)

Right, that’s good point.
