Significant Battery Drain from Widget

App version: 3.6.1 Aurora Store(state whether from Google Play/F-Droid/Custom built APK)

Android version: 15 GrapheneOS (Please mention if you are using a custom rom!)

Device model: Pixel 8 and Pixel 9

Expected behaviour: minimal battery drain when widget is added to home screen

Current behaviour: significant battery drain when widget is added to home screen. If I remove the widget, I get back to normal battery drain. Its a significant drain with the widget. I get about a half day of battery when the widget is there, and about 1.5 days without the widget. This impacted my Pixel 8, and I upgraded to a 9 because I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t get through the day on a single charge. Same thing happened on my pixel 9 and I decide to start making changes one at a time until I figured it out. Removing the widget did the trick.

First occurred: (e.g. about x days/weeks ago) I think this has been going on for 6-9 months, but just recently figured out what was killing my battery.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Add widget to home screen
  2. Leave it there and use it to play and pause several times a day.

Environment: (Settings you have changed (e.g. Auto Download). “Unusual” devices you use (e.g. Bluetooth headphones). Did you select another media player?) I don’t think I have any unusual settings.
