Expected behaviour: The zzz’s should appear at the top.
Current behaviour: The zzz’s aren’t there.
First occurred: (e.g. about x days/weeks ago) After changing various settings, to streamline behaviour across devices, to have the tablet behave the same as the phone (and finally make those zzz’s appear on the tablet). But while in the phone the Zzz’s were there, now they are gone from the phone as well. I have absolutely no idea what conditions must be met (ie what settings must be set) for the sleep timer to appear. How about a specific sleep timer setting in the user interface settings panel?
Steps to reproduce: n/a
Environment: (Settings you have changed (e.g. Auto Download). “Unusual” devices you use (e.g. Bluetooth headphones). Did you select another media player?)
No idea now what AntennaPod settings were touched exactly. No headsets. Using device loudspeakers. No downloads, only streaming is used.
I just discovered that the Zzz’s DO appear, but only in the screen referring to the currently running episode. Which doesn’t make sense to me.
As the timer affects the entire app’s behaviour, not just the currently playing episode, wouldn’t it make more sense to show the timer’s Zzz’s on the Home screen or in any way on the screen the user has chosen as their main one?
Depends on how you use the functionality. I only use it at night and since you can configure it to automatically activate between certain hours I really manually do anything with it.
What do you mean with this? The sleep timer only affects the episodes you are/will be playing. It doesn’t affect, for example, how episodes are downloaded or how your queue is ordered.
Full playback controls, e.g. skip silence, are only available in that player screen. The sleep timer fits well there also, I think. In general we either have settings in the global (app) settings – if the setting is not changed/action is not applied regularly – or in the screen to which it is relevant – if it is used more frequently and/or is hard to understand/see what it does outside of its context (e.g. subscriptions sort).
Adding the sleep timer icon would make the top bar of the default screen more busy/convoluted, without adding much benefit as in the current situation it can always be pulled up via the player screen (regardless whether you’re on your default screen or happen to be elsewhere).
So I would be inclined to close this feature request as “won’t do”.

I definitely see your point(s), and I agree.
May I however suggest a very brief mention, in the documentation, that the sleep timer appears on the EPISODE screen? Such a mention would have saved me hours of trial and error…
