Problem you may be having, or feature you want: An option to switch the podcast output to mono audio from the current default. Right now, some podcasts sound really “echo-y” or “boxy,” and the stereo separation makes the voices feel off-balance. Adding a mono setting would help flatten the sound and make the audio much clearer and easier to listen to, especially when the original recording quality isn’t great.
Suggested solution: A toggle switch/button to switch the channels to mono.
One option is to go to Accessibility options on your phone and from there you can set up a widget to flick mono mode on or off. This is how I do it on my Android phone.
That is what I currently do. But it becomes a problem and have to switch back when I listen to music. It would be convenient to have a mono setting in the podcast app to avoid a system wide mono output and turn on/off every time when switching between podcast and music apps.
Maybe a Bixby or Macrodroid routine could activate mono mode when AP is fired up and de-activate it when AP is closed down?
For my own use it is only when listening to sport commentaries using a single wired earbud while at work. When using a single wireless earbud that automatically uses mono mode.
Just how often do you switch media apps that it becomes so much of a hassle to tap the mono widget on your home screen as you switch apps?
