Device model:
Samsung Galaxy S24
it’s a company phone so I don’t have a lot of control over settings.
Expected behaviour:
continue downloading and listening to podcasts
Current behaviour:
I’m getting an error downloading or streaming NY Time’s “The Daily”
other podcasts still seem to be working fine
First occurred: (e.g. about x days/weeks ago)
probably a month ago
Steps to reproduce:
- go to “The Daily” podcast in my subscriptions
- see new episodes listed
- tap the download button
- an error is displayed a moment later
"Unable to establish a secure connection. This can mean that another app on your device (like a VPN or an ad blocker) blocked the download, or that something is wrong with the server certificates.
"Technical reason:
java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: Trust anchor for certification path not found.
"File URL:
- I also get unsecure warning messages when copying the URL to a couple of browsers on my phone - Samsung and DuckDuckGo
- stripping out the podtrac portion up to nyt simplecastaudio allows the URL to work on my phone
- the original URL works fine as is on my PC
I wrote to the Daily podcast but have not heard back
Environment: (Settings you have changed (e.g. Auto Download). “Unusual” devices you use (e.g. Bluetooth headphones). Did you select another media player?)
I switched from default streaming to default download because the playback seemed smoother.
