While there is no “stop at end of episode” I’ve found that moving
the episode to the end of the play list is a viable work-around.
If needed you can place several episodes at the bottom of the queue
and begin playing near the bottom of the list rather than just the last
episode, whatever is applicable to your situation.
This works as the queue is a list, strictly top down.
While I had requested a play from top of list feature, if
implemented which behavior could perhaps be a toggle.
That’s exactly how I do it. I originally moved items to the top of my queue if I wanted to listen to them next, but I realized it was easier to leave the more interesting ones at the bottom and move the less interesting ones to the top to listen later. When those interesting ones are done, playback stops.
FYI: If you only want to play one item at a time, just disable Continuous Playback.
I have a weighted priority system I play from the top with the expectation I’m going to keep listening for a while. Particularly if I’m in the car.
Things I put at the bottom to play tend to be because I’m either using it as a sleep timer you know try and stay awake till the end of episode or because I’ve got an event coming up like I have a short drive to work or you know I wanted to stop playing for some reason and those are either the current podcast I’m in the middle of or usually a newscast particularly in the morning.
I make you two or three short newscasts in the morning while I’m listening to breakfast and they pretty much stop automatically before I sit down to eat at which point I tend to watch jeopardy or something until I leave the house.

I actually have a similar issue and hope that this is a good thread to jump in so far (for several months), I’ve placed my episodes at the bottom of the queue so that playback automatically stops.
But now with v3.5.0f, this no longer works: after finalizing the bottom-most item of my queue, the playback continues with the top-most item - like an infinite loop
Can you confirm this behavior and if not, which version are you using?
Thx! What I observed yesterday is that I can only reproduce the issue following these steps:
Connect a Bluetooth device (headphones, speaker, etc.)
Create a queue with at least two items.
Play the bottom-most item of the queue.
Now when clicking Next in AntennaPod on my smartphone, the playback stops as it is the last item. However, when using the Next button of my Bluetooth speaker, the playback does not stop and instead the remaining queue item is started.
