App version: 3.8.0f (F-droid)
Android version: 14 / OneUI 6.1
Device model: Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G
Expected behaviour: I should be abble to add/enable AntennaPod in AndroidAuto
Current behaviour: AntennaPod is missing
I only configured android auto like 1 week ago and previously wasn’t using it at all. I tried to use it mostly for navigation but figured out it would be nice. But I wasn’t able to find it on the list.
Searching the forum didn’t yield anything. I was thinking that maybe f-droid version was not compatible so tried searching for that - still nothing.
And only once I decided to write a topic about it voila - a topic showed up:
After a bit of searching what to do I found a website with simple guide:
How Do You Enable Unknown Sources on Android Auto?
To enable unknown sources on Android Auto, you will need to follow these steps:
- Open the Android Auto app on your phone by clicking on the hamburger icon located at the top left corner of the screen.
- In the side menu that appears, scroll down to find the “Settings” option and tap on it.
- Once you are in the Settings menu, scroll all the way down to the bottom until you see the “Version” option.
- Tap on the “Version” option about 10 times consecutively. This will unlock the Developer Mode in Android Auto.
- After unlocking Developer Mode, click on the kebab icon (three vertical dots) located at the top right corner of the screen.
- In the menu that appears, select the “Developer settings” option.
- Scroll down within the Developer settings menu until you find the “Unknown sources” option.
- Enable the “Unknown sources” option by tapping on the toggle switch next to it.
- Exit the Android Auto app completely by closing it from the recent apps or by restarting your phone.
- Re-open the Android Auto app, and now you should have the “Unknown sources” option enabled, allowing you to install apps from sources other than the Google Play Store.
Maybe it would be good to pin the first forum post and add some sort of guide to it how to enable it and be able to use it in android auto? I’d assume that quite a lot of people get AntennaPod from f-droid so it would apply to them
