Request to add the language Persian on Weblate

Please add the Persian language everywhere it can be added.

It appears that Persion already exists - or at least previously did

Hi, thanks a lot for translating AntennaPod! I just added the translators badge to your account here on the forum.

Website

I just added the website components on Weblate. Because the website might be the first thing users see, we usually create a preview version and use it to proofread the translation. Then the website is updated with the new translation manually. So if you have completed the main website parts, could you please create a post here on the forum? Then we can set up a preview.

Screenshots

Unfortunately Google Play does not support Persian, so we cannot upload localized images there. That’s why I did not add Persian for the screenshots.

Thanks
I don’t know exactly what Google Play Console is or what it does, but I know that many popular apps on Google Play have images in Persian.

Ah, right. I just added the screenshot titles to Weblate as well. Please let me know here on the forum when you complete the website or complete the screenshots. Then I can create a preview version before making it public.

Especially on the main pages of the website and in the screenshots, it is most important that the text sounds good. The translations don’t have to be word-by-word there.

All strings are translated! :+1:

(Please extend the logged-in session duration on the forum, as I need to login again after just three days  )

Awesome, thanks! I generated a preview of the website here: AntennaPod – پخش‌کننده پادپخش آزاد Could you please have a look to see if the strings work well in context? If they don’t, please adapt the strings on Weblate accordingly. Then let me know when you are done, so we can get it released publicly.

The duration is actually 60 days, and I almost never have to re-login. Seems like something is clearing your browser cookies.

On the website, when English words are inserted within Persian text, the text alignment is disrupted. Specifically, the text to the right of the English word is swapped with the text to the left of it, causing the overall text to appear jumbled and unreadable.

(Because Persian is an RTL language)

For example, in the third line of this images.

Also, this happens (for example) on the Smart Shuffle page when a tag wraps to the next line:

چگونه از درهم‌سازی هوشمند استفاده کنیم – AntennaPod

Persian is the first RTL language we add to the website, so things might not be optimized for it yet. I must admit that I don’t know much about web development. I played around with it a bit, does this look better?

Another problem is that on my laptop it uses a weird super thin font instead of the one from your screenshots.

This is your system font problem, not an issue with the website.

The text issue was resolved, but two new problems arose!

One is on the blog page (images are not in the correct position).

It’s because of a hard-coded style at .highlight-card > img

 margin-left: -30px

The second is in the Breadcrumb (It’s need to be reversed).

It can be fixed by adding a new line of code at .breadcrumb

flex-direction: row-reverse;

Are you sure that the breadcrumbs need to be reversed? To me it looks like only the separators are in the wrong place. Unfortunately just adding flex-direction: row-reverse breaks the layout for LTR languages.

It’s not necessary, but I thought this was the easiest way to do it, and I didn’t pay attention to the original language.

My experience is as @ByteHamster describes: I can go weeks (maybe months?) without needing to log back on to this forum.

I updated the preview with a few fixes. Does it look okay in Persian now?

Yes, thank you
If you could also make BreadCrumb display the titles of previous pages in the local language, it would be even better, but the site is already presentable as is :+1:

There was one page with some untranslated text in the middle. Since it wasn’t translated into other languages and aren’t available on Weblate, I assumed you recently added it, so it’s not an issue👌

Your translation is live :tada: antennapod.org/fa/ Thanks a lot for translating!

That’s on the list: Crumbs not translated · Issue #136 · AntennaPod/antennapod.github.io · GitHub (but given that it is not directly related to the Persian translation, I will leave this for later)

Yeah that’s right. We recently worked on the “contribute” pages with new strings.
