Resume playback with wired headset button after paused not working

Device model: pixel 4a

Expected behaviour: resume playback immediately after pressing wired headset-button

Current behaviour: no resume or delayed resume playback after pressing wired headset-button, and strange behaviour:

after pressing headset-buttonthere is sometimes no resume, sometimes the playback resumes if I wait some seconds (5-20s), playback resumes if I move the smartphone slightly

if I press the headset-button more often (e.g. 3x) to resume playback: 1st click: nothing, 2nd click: short start and stop again, 3rd click: resume podcast as expected.

if I press the headset-button to pause and then to play in close succession, playback resumes immediately.

other apps (total commander buildin player, AIMP-Player) are working as expected

First occurred: a few days

Steps to reproduce:

  1. start playing a podcast and pause with wired headset-button or in the app
  2. turn off screen
  3. wait undefined time (10-60 seconds) and do not turn on screen or move smartphone
  4. try to resume playback

Environment: (Settings you have changed (nothing special): no auto download; downloadfolder switched from data to media folder; hardware buttons: forward→ go 20s forward and back→ go 20s backward)

This is, unfortunately, not a new issue and should be closed as a duplicate. I do appreciate the level of detail that you provided in reproducing it.

I did some research in front of posting but with no results (obviously bad keywords) :slight_smile:

So it seems to be a known issue. Anyway maybe this helps to resolve the issue in the future updates.
