Static when changing speed during playback

Expected behaviour:
Can change speed any time, and playback continues at specified new speed

Current behaviour:
When changing speed during playback, either faster or slower, about half the time the sound file becomes continuous static. Playback continues according to GUI, but I hear only static.

First occurred: (e.g. about x days/weeks ago)
At least a few months ago. Took me a while to think of submitting a bug report.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Play a podcast in AntennaPod
2. Tap speed icon in bottom-left
3. Choose a speed

This is with Silence Removal turned on. My two most common speeds are 2.1 and 3, and I can get this problem when going from 2.1 to 3 and from 3 to 2.1.

This is with Silence Removal turned on.

I have experienced this issue too, especially with Skip Silence enabled.

What happens once in a while: The moment I click the 1.25 preset or Skip Silence button (and especially when I click both) the audio goes to an electronic buzzing noise. I can’t tell if that’s a distortion of the actual audio or just replaces the actual audio. Stopping playback stops the noise but starting playback resumes the noise. I get it working again by start/stopping playback from the Queue menu.

I have the same problem - static When changing speed on the app using android auto

I continue to have this problem. Maybe less often than in the past. Android with and without Bluetooth headphones. Skip Silence enabled.
